Yes, we do support SPF! But what exactly does SPF mean and what is an SPF record?
SPF is short for Sender Policy Framework, formerly Sender Permitted From. Email servers check whether an incoming email really comes from the host server it claims it comes from. This prevents that email sender addresses are falsified.
For this purpose, additional details in shape of an SPF record are added to the DNS record of a domain as a TXT record. For each incoming email, email servers check the sending domain and the SPF record to see if the server is authorized to send this email. The check runs in the background, you won’t notice it at all.
When using CleverReach, you can use your own domain for the sender address. Add the following TXT record to the used sender domain at your provider’s to increase the deliverability of your emails.
TXT record for new SPF:
If no other SPF entry for the sender domain exists please use the following:
v=spf1 a mx include:spf.crsend.com ~all
TXT record for existing SPF:
If you already have a SPF entry for the sender domain please add the CleverReach information include:spf.crsend.com to the existing entry. For example:
v=spf1 include:spf.example.com include:spf.crsend.com ~all
Note: Please note that these settings might need 24 hours to take effect. If you already have an SPF entry do not delete it but rather enter ours in addition.
Hardfail
A hardfail defines that all other senders are rejected. By default, the hardfail is deactivated and the softfail is activated. This allows certain senders, whereby your email get delivered to your customers.
If you prefer an SPF record with hardfail, please use the record spfhard.crsend.com
Please note
- You have to add the TXT record at your provider’s. This setting is essential for the deliverability of your newsletter. Unfortunately, not all providers support this.
- It can take up to 24 hours for the changes to become effective.
- Check your SPF record here: https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx
- If you already have one or several records, don’t overwrite them but simply add our record to the list.
